Paris 2024: I’m so proud – Wakama celebrates landmark victory over Australia

D’Tigress head coach Rena Wakama is elated after her team secured a stunning 75-62 win over world number three Australia in their opening match at the 2024 Olympic Games.

This victory marks Nigeria’s first Olympic win in 20 years.

Wakama, brimming with pride, praised her players for their outstanding performance in the fiercely contested game. “I have a wave of emotions.

I am so proud and excited for this group,” Wakama said. “I’ve got a lot of girls that are hungry and shocked the world.

We are tough; it’s in our DNA. We don’t back down, and I just want to bring a lot of energy and passion.”

D’Tigress will face host nation France in their next match on Thursday.
