Paris 2024: Super Falcons ready to compete with the best – Ajibade

Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade has affirmed the team’s readiness for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games.

The Nigerian squad concluded their preparations in Sevilla, Spain on Wednesday, following a friendly match where they narrowly lost 1-0 to reigning Olympic champions, Canada.

The West African team is scheduled to arrive in Bordeaux on Thursday night for the Games, marking their return to the Olympics after a 16-year absence.

“We’re ready (for the Olympics),” stated Ajibade confidently. “We will give it our best shot. We must be prepared to compete with the best teams, regardless of their stature.

We have the talent, the quality. We must trust in our abilities.”

Reflecting on their past challenges, Ajibade added, “We faced formidable opponents like Australia, Ireland, and England at the World Cup last year. We have what it takes to excel.”

The Super Falcons’ Olympic journey kicks off with a match against Brazil at Stade Bordeaux next Thursday.

They are grouped alongside reigning world champions Spain and Japan in what promises to be a tough competition.
