Rosemary Chukwuma, representing Nigeria in the women’s 100 meters at the Paris Olympics, has advanced to the semi-finals.
She secured a spot by finishing third in Heat 5 with a time of 11.26 seconds, trailing behind Poland’s Ewa Swoboda (10.99 seconds) and Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith (11.01 seconds).
Chukwuma is one of Nigeria’s two competitors in this event. The other, Tima Godbless, despite a strong start, ended up sixth in Heat 7 and will not continue in the competition.

Another Nigerian, Favour Ofili, was not registered for the event, leading to significant criticism of the sport’s authorities in Nigeria.
In the heats, Cote d’Ivoire’s Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith achieved the fastest overall time with 10.87 seconds. Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finished second in 10.92 seconds, while Germany’s Gina Lückenkemper took third with 11.08 seconds.
The semi-finals and finals are scheduled for Saturday, August 3.
