The Rivers State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to a stolen vehicle in the Ada George area of Port Harcourt.

Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the development in a statement yesterday, said the arrest followed a complaint lodged by an officer attached to the Federal Road Safety Corps, who reported that his Toyota Corolla had been stolen.

According to her, a joint team from the Electronic Central Motor Registry (ECMR) and the Special Operations and Intelligence Team (SOIT) launched a discreet investigation, which led to the recovery of the vehicle and the arrest of three suspects allegedly involved in its suspicious sale.

Iringe-Koko said the operation was carried out on November 7, 2025, at about 8 a.m., adding that the recovered car carried registration number PHC 626 TX, with its engine and chassis numbers duly verified.

She noted that efforts were ongoing to track additional members of the syndicate and dismantle the criminal network behind the theft.

“Verification by Prof. Karibo Bagshaw, the rightful owner of the vehicle, confirmed that the vehicle was stolen from his daughter in December 2024 by their former bolt driver,” she said.

Iringe-Koko gave the names of the arrested suspects as Christian Ihuigwe, John Ebus and Barnabas, all residents of Port Harcourt.

“The suspects and exhibits have been transferred to the Special Investigation Department in line with the Commissioner of Police’s directives for further forensic analysis.

“Intensive efforts are ongoing to apprehend other potential accomplices at large and updates will be made known publicly.

“The suspects will face prosecution upon completion of thorough investigations,” she added.

Commenting on the arrests, the Rivers Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, reaffirmed the command’s “steadfast commitment” to safeguarding lives and property.

Adepoju commended the diligence of the officers and urged citizens to share credible information with security agencies to help curb crime.
