Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected “one-chance” robbers, Odunuga Kehinde and Olajide Rasak, in the Obantoko area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday.

Oluseyi said the operation followed a distress call from members of the public over an armed robbery incident involving a female victim and her two sisters, prompting an immediate response from operatives.

He stated that officers of the Obantoko Division acted swiftly on May 28, 2026, at about 5:15 p.m., leading to the arrest of the suspects in connection with the incident.

“The victims were said to have boarded a Nissan Micra taxi painted in Ogun State colour from the Somorin area en route NNPC Kuto, where they intended to connect with another vehicle to Lagos after attending a wedding anniversary in the area.

“However, at the OLG Somorin axis, the occupants of the vehicle allegedly diverted from the agreed destination, became unruly, and forcefully ejected the passengers. Immediately after disembarking, the complainant discovered that her iPhone 12 Pro had been stolen.”

The PPRO noted that upon receiving the report, police operatives mobilised to the scene, arrested the suspects and recovered the stolen iPhone.

“Upon receiving the distress alert, operatives of Obantoko Division, in collaboration with members of the public, swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested two suspects identified as Odunuga Kehinde and Olajide Rasak. The timely intervention of the police prevented a possible mob action by agitated members of the public.

“The stolen iPhone 12 Pro was recovered from the suspects, while the alleged operational vehicle reportedly fled the scene,” Oluseyi added.

He added that the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime during interrogation.

“Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime during interrogation.

“Photographs of the suspects were taken for record purposes, and the recovered exhibit was released to the owner on bond,” the statement concluded.

The Lagos State Police Command arrested a three-man one-chance gang who had been terrorising unsuspecting commuters along the Oshodi-Gbagada axis of Lagos state.

The suspects, Wale Ajayi, 24; Abideen Saka, 26, and Oliseh Sunday aka Bobwhiskey, 29, were arrested by Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad at their hideout weeks after they abandoned their operational vehicle while fleeing a scene of their operation.
