Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, yesterday declared that candidates backed by his Rainbow Coalition will sweep all elective positions in Rivers State in the 2027 general elections.
Wike spoke during a “thank you” visit to Asari Toru Local Government Area, where he reaffirmed his confidence in the political structure he leads in the state.
The Rainbow Coalition operates under the Renewed Hope Family, an initiative promoted by Wike to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, the platform has collapsed party lines in Rivers State, bringing politicians of different affiliations under a single political umbrella.
Wike said political actors in the state have moved beyond partisan divisions to unite in the overall interest of the people through the Renewed Hope Family.
He said: “After Tinubu, the Rainbow Coalition will produce every elective position in Rivers State in 2027. If you do not sincerely belong to this Rainbow Family, forget it.”
The minister listed what he described as benefits Rivers State has gained from supporting Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, assuring residents that improved outcomes were ahead.

“This year will be better than last year,” he said, while thanking the people for remaining steadfast in their support of the President.
Wike also commended community leaders for their loyalty, noting that the political risks they took in 2023 were already yielding positive results.
“Remain on this path and you will continue to reap the rewards. I assure you of my support at the appropriate time,” he added.
Chairman of the council, Onengiyeofori George, thanked the minister for his interventions in the area and assured him of the community’s continued unity under the Renewed Hope Family.
Also speaking, Chief Michael West, who represents Asari Toru Constituency II in the Rivers State House of Assembly, praised Wike for mobilising support for Tinubu.
Describing him as a good leader, West credited Wike with facilitating the emergence of an Ijaw governor in Rivers State for the first time since the return to democracy.
He pledged the continued loyalty of the people, saying they were ready to stand with the minister at all times.
