Rangers are reportedly closing in on a replacement for Alfredo Morelos as they are ‘well advanced’ in their chase for a Cremonese frontman, Cyriel Dessers .
The Ibrox giants lost the prolific Morelos on a free over the summer but have been doing their best to give Michael Beale a new frontman ahead of the new season.
The Gers boss currently has the likes of Fashion Sakala and Antonio Colak to choose from but bringing on board another attacker was always on the cards once Morelos’ exit was confirmed.
And that is where Cremonese star Dessers comes in.
The Nigeria international scored six goals in 26 Serie A games last season, and that was enough to convince Gers to make a move for him – as reported by Calciomercato.
They claim that the player is ‘about to say goodbye’ to Cremonese after just one season following the club’s relegation to Serie B.
Dessers was unable to help them stay up, and the Italians are now ‘obliged to sell him’.
That’s where the Ibrox outfit comes in, with it said that negotiations with the Ibrox side are ‘well advanced’ for the 28-year-old.
As for the fee, the outlet add that the two teams could reach ‘an agreement’ at around €4.2m with a bonus of €1m.
