Real Sociedad move tickles Eagles star Sadiq Umar

Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar has described his move to La Liga side Real Sociedad and big step in his career. The former Almeria ace, who has recently been sort by avalanche of Spanish clubs , including Villarreal and Valencia, finally settled for Sociedad who are eager to have the Nigerian in their fold.

“This is a big step up in my career and the right choice too” he enthused shortly after sealing the deal.

The deal will be worth €25m including add-ons and will have a 15% sell-on clause. Sadiq has been identified as Alexander Isak’s replacement.

Isak joined Newcastle United for a huge fee last week and, as La Real’s most dangerous attacking talent, takes a lot of potential goals with him. The Basque club needed to bring in a replacement and in Sadiq they have an excellent one who carries a real threat.

The 25 year old who was part of the Nigerian squad to the last Nations Cup in Cameroon contributed in no small measure to Almeria promotion to the elite division. Aside from scoring two goals in three seasons this season for the side was on fire last season scoring 18 goals and delivering 12 assists in 36 Segunda games the Andalusian side earned promotion to Primera. Soceidad will no doubt be hoping to see him replicate the super form they monitored from a distance while he was at Almeria.

Real Soceidad will be the 11th club the former U-23 star would be playing for in course of his career after flagging it off with Italian side Spezia.
