Al Nassr forward Sadio Mane has offered fresh insight into Cristiano Ronaldo’s work ethic and winning mentality, describing the Portuguese star as a “global role model” for footballers.

Speaking in an interview with Rio Ferdinand, the Senegalese international said Ronaldo’s drive, discipline and competitive spirit remain unmatched, even after two decades at the top level.

Mane, who joined the Saudi Pro League side from Liverpool in 2023, said training and playing alongside the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has deepened his respect for him.

“Cristiano is a role model for every football player in the world,” Mane said. “His mentality, his passion for winning and his professionalism are on another level. I had never seen anything like it.”

He added that his perception of Ronaldo before joining Al Nassr aligns perfectly with the reality.

“Before I met him, I watched him on TV and read about his work ethic and discipline. When I arrived here, I found everything to be exactly as people described. He’s unbelievable. He works hard every single day and still wants to win and give his best, even at 40. He is a complete athlete.”

Mane and Ronaldo have featured in 91 games together for Al Nassr across all competitions, combining for 16 goals. Both forwards are expected to start when the club faces Al-Khaleej this weekend.
