Rooney names best footballer ever

DC United manager, Wayne Rooney, has labelled Lionel Messi as the best footballer ever to play the game.

Rooney, a Manchester United legend, said this while speaking about Messi’s imminent arrival at Inter Miami.

Recall that Messi left Paris Saint-Germain for Inter Miami following the expiration of his contract with the French Ligue 1 champions.

“It is a great move, obviously, for the MLS,” Rooney told Sky Sports when asked about Messi’s imminent arrival in Miami.

“Commercially, it will be huge. It will draw more interest in the game from different regions of the world – I am sure it will do that as well, because you are getting arguably the best player to ever play the game.

“I am sure he will come here, and want to be competitive, and want to try and help Miami to climb up the table.

“I think not just fans, but coaches, players – everyone is excited to have him in the league.”
