SA Grassroots Sports to Minister of Sports, Adeboye Begs Nigerians Over Iwobi

Renowned special assistant on grassroots sports development to the honourable minister of sports, Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka has frowned and condemned in strong terms those criticism and cyber bullying super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi to desist from such, as no one player should be blamed as they all gave their best as a team.

The media space was awash with disturbing stories of Nigerians making caricature of their stars after the super Eagles lost the AFCON finals to host Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday.

Adeboye, therefore call on Nigerians to refrain on their harsh treatment on Iwobi particularly nor any Super Eagles player for that matter.

Adeboye, further said that, Iwobi has given so much to the super Eagles since he started playing for the national team, not forgetting his contributions and goals that has once put smiles and great joy on the faces of Nigerians.

“I truly understand, how it feels to lose an AFCON Final. I understand the feelings of Nigerians, that is why I want everyone to see Iwobi as a servant, who gave his best at all times for his fatherland.

We should help the player at this difficult time, rather than criticizing him” he pleaded.

“Let’s also, understand that, Iwobi is a young player, that has put smiles on the faces of millions of Nigerians and that, we should please, support and encourage him for better performances in future. We still have alot of tournaments to play and Iwobi is still very relevant to the national team and I know he will come back stronger and better”, Adeboye added.

It would be recalled, that Iwobi, has faced some bad criticism from football fans, who felt Iwobi played below expectations at the just concluded AFCON tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
