Sacking Gernot Rohr Will be Difficult —- Elder Paul Bassey

Sacking Gernot Rohr Will be Difficult ---- Elder Paul Bassey

Chairman Akwa United football of Uyo and member Nigeria Football Federation Technical Committee Elder  Paul Bassey has stated that sacking the Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr will be difficult as the Germany has never faulted any of the targets sets before him by the football federation.

Recently Nigeria soccer fans have called for Rohr to be sack based on the poor performance of the Super Eagle in their last World Cup qualifying match against Cape Verde played in Lagos.

Elder Bassey said this in an interview with Brilla FM that ,”We have put ourselves in a situation where sacking Rohr will be very difficult.

“Rohr has met his target and the situation is tough . He might just go to Nations Cup and reach the semi Final,” Paul Bassey said.

Speaking on the technical meeting report held on the statues of Rohr, Bassey disclosed  he was never part of the meeting as no one sent any invitation to him.

“Not to the best of my knowledge, i never sat with any committee, The Executive Committee met i wasn’t part of it or invited for such as we have our individual views on Gernot Rohr as the head coach of the Super Eagles,”

He further explained that, ” We don’t have the power people think that we have. i will not change the decision of the coach.

“Again i do not have the details of Gernot Rohr contract as a member of the Technical Committee. When talk about payoff of his contract, i hardly offer my opinion. The Contract is a Taboo maybe this is me, other members might have different opinion,” Elder Paul Bassey concluded.
