Lawyer of Paul Pogba has detailed the alleged extortion attempt against the Juventus midfielder over the past year.
Pogba’s older brother Mathias Pogba is currently in custody for his alleged role in the affair
Rafaele Pimenta told Tuttosport: “It’s not an uncommon problem among footballers. They are often threatened because they are overexposed subjects. I have seen all the colours and often they do not talk about it, because they are ashamed.
“It’s a bad thing, because it leads them to experience intense stressful situations, which affects their performance.
“It was only when he agreed to get help that Paul realised there was a solution.
“Everything is in the hands of the lawyers. He could have told me before, but I understand him. Often we want to try to solve this kind of thing alone.”
Serie A: Juve midfielder Pogba was threatened; he tried to solve it alone, says Pimenta
Pimenta says former Manchester United midfielder Pogba is now using his situation to offer support to peers.
“We have a project with Paul, that of an application that helps players.
“It’s anonymous and we imagined it as a support for the mental health of the players to give advice, because they are not always able to overcome these kinds of problems on their own.”
