Smart City Chairman Urges Players For More Victories

Smart City Chairman, Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka has urged his players to continue in the winning sprit after a resounding victory over rivals 1472 fc, in the first game of the second stanza of the NNL season.

City began the second stanza with a remarkable team performance as Nonso Uzoma’s brace gave city a vital 2-1 home win over league new boys 1472 fc, at the Mobolaji Johnson stadium on Saturday.

The encounter, which is a Matchday 12 clash, in the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League (NNL) Southern Conference A, in the first Matchday clash after two weeks short season break.

City took the lead, after Nonso struck home a delightful placement inside the box to beat off the 1472 goalkeeper in the 5th minute, from an assist by Jeleel Lateef.

City’s lead didn’t last long, as 1472, fought back and got the equalizer later in the first half, both sides tried to score more, but all efforts by both teams proved abotive, as they went into the break even.

In the second half, city tried to get back into the game by mounting lots of pressure on their opponents and it paid off as, Nonso, got his second goal of the game, from a precise low header that beat 1472 keeper hands down, as the goal send city fans into unconfined joy and excitement.

The goal was the tonic city needed as players of 1472, became frustrated and lost control of their composure and discipline and that resulted in two red cards for their players and one red card to their team coordinator.

City made sure they kept their lead in place for ninty minutes, as they went home with maximum points.

The chairman, Adeboye , shortly after the game, praised the team for a solid performance. And encourage the players to keep it up and continue working hard to maintain the winning streak.

The Chairman also thanked both the players and officials for a crucial victory.

The win also moves City to top five, In the Southern Conference table.
