Spanish Iberdrola: Ajibade’s Atletico Madrid Sacks Manager

When Rasheedat Ajibade’s Atletico Madrid faces Real Madrid in a derby game on Monday it will surely be under a new manager as the club sacked coach Oscar Fernandez.

The Madrid-based club announced his departure in the early hours of Monday citing the club’s failure to be in the UEFA Women’s Champions League position.

” Óscar Fernández will not continue as coach of the women’s first team. The current sporting situation, in which the team is out of the positions that give access to the Women’s Champions League, has caused the coach from La Mancha to be dismissed.

“From the club, we appreciate his work and professionalism during his time at the club and we wish him the best of luck,” the club said.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons attacker is one of the key players for the club and has scored a good number of goals coupled with an amazing performance for the club.
