Spartans, Jumez In Early Lead As UFC Enter Week 3

Spartans FC of Agege and Jumez FC of Surulere has surprisingly taken an early lead on the log as the United Football Championship (UFC), season 2 enter Week 3.

The league matches which are being held at the prestigious Legacy Pitch, Surulere, Lagos, has been a good advertisement for grassroots football with the quality of performances put up so far by the teams, as the games have been full of spectacle, fun-fare and frenzy.

No doubt, this season’s title will be another closely  contested one, with usual suspects Box 2 Box, Glorious Day and Dominion Hotspur still in the mix.

A total of 23 goals were scored in Week 2 in 6 matches with one outstanding game between Box 2 Box and R2Finesse which will be rescheduled.

The first game in Week 2 saw

L. Mirado beaten again, this time 5-3 by G12 to condemn them to the bottom of the table with two loses in two games without a point.

While FC Sporting Bethel lost 1-2 to Jumez FC in their second encounter after picking a win in their first game. De Pros FC which like L. Mirado are yet to record a win in the championship continued their losing streak as they fell by 0 -4 to Spartans FC.

In another encounter, Starbase FC which lost their first match against Box 2 Box in Week 1 again failed to get anything in their second game as they were pummeled by De Elite FC 3-1.

Glorious Day FA which are the defending champions played out a goalless draw (0-0) against Dominion Hotspurs FC.

In the second match on  Saturday Goshen FC failed to shine as they lost 3-1 to The Charlesann FC while Box 2 Box defeated R2Finesse 1-0 in the rescheduled game to call it a wrap in Week 2.

Week 3 matches which started with a star fixture on Sunday morning, between table toppers Spartans FC of Agege and second placed Jumez FC of Surulere ended in 0-0 draw.
