Sports Commissioner Hands Over Aper Aku Stadium To Moni Michelle For Renovation

Benue State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Barr. Teryima Nguher alongside the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr John Akume on Friday, handed over Aper Aku Stadium officially to the contractor for immediate commencement of renovation works according to a statement by the club’s media.

Performing the ceremony, the Director of Sports, Mr Philip Nongo who received the Sports Commissioner, thanked Governor Samuel Ortom and members of the State executive council for the laudable project, saying, it will enhance the maximum performance of Lobi Stars.

Earlier in his speech, the Sports Commissioner thanked Governor Ortom and his deputy for the sacrifice they made towards making this significant event a reality. He also thanked the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Club Dominic Iorfa for his concerted effort to ensure that the best thing is done.

In his response, the contractor who is saddled with the responsibility of installing artificial turf at the Stadium, Mr Ebi Egbe who is also the  CEO of Moni Michelle Sports thanked Governor Ortom for finding him worthy of the project. 

He assured of quality work as well as timely execution of the project that would ensure Lobi Stars return home to complete their 2023 NPFL matches.

While stressing the importance of maintenance as the key to enhancing the longevity of the facility, Egbe assured of installing advanced technology materials, adding that work will commence on Monday, next week.

In his speech, Iorfa said that the project will go a long way to attract international matches when completed.

The football administrator thanked Governor Ortom and his deputy for their show of love for sports, adding that he was glad to witness this development under his administration and assured the people of speedy completion.

Recall that Benue State EXCO recently approved the sum of #243million naira for the upgrading of Aper Aku Stadium with modern facilities that would replace the dilapidated facilities which will enable Lobi Stars to return to Makurdi to host their NPFL home games.
