Super 6: Day 2 Delta Queens, Rivers Angels, Live To Fight Another Day

* Angels 0 Queens 0

It was not the result both teams would have wished for having dropped points in their opening matches, but it ended a barren draw Tuesday despite clear cut chances to put the ball behind the net.

Defending champions, Rivers Angels having lost their first game to neighbours and rivals had come into the encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City against last season’s runner up, Delta Queens to take their pound of flesh but met a rejuvenated side which gave them a run for their money.

Yet, the Delta Queens will rue for a long time, those beautifully created chances their attackers could not convert due largely to a lack of self confidence and simple goal sense.

Although the Delta state flag bearers suffered suffered several questionable decisions especially those glaring penalties like the hand ball inside the box, the girls have themselves to blame for their timidity.

Rivers Angels, the favourites according to book makers, also had their own share of poor marks manship in front of goal even as some of their attackers played to the gallery.

Action resumes Thursday with Delta Queens squaring up against Nassarawa Amazons who stunned host Edo Queens earlier in the day by a lone goal.
