Transfer: Akpom keen to sign new contract at Middlesbrough

Chuba Akpom has debunked claims he is keen to leave Sky Bet Championship club, Middlesbrough.

Akpom has one-year left on his contract with Michael Carrick’s side.

The 27-year-old caught the eye last season after emerging top scorer in the Championship with 26 goals.

The Nigerian-born forward also won the Player of the Year award.

Akpom said he is happy at the Teesside and will be willing to sign a new contract.

“Yeah, of course (I want to stay),” he told the Northern Echo.

“I’ve made it clear that I feel at home here, so I think me saying that shows that I would love to stay.”
