Manchester United have held initial talks with RB Salzburg over the signing of Benjamin Sesko.

Sky Sports reports the 13-time Premier League winners have made their interest in the Slovenian forward known. However, the clubs are some way off in their respective valuations for him.

The 19-year-old has four years remaining on his contract with the Austrian side. He scored in Salzburg’s win over Liverpool in a friendly last month and has been likened to Erling Haaland.

However, Chelsea are looking to hijack the deal from Manchester United.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims the Blues held a meeting with the player’s agent last week around the same time they enquired about a potential deal for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The report adds that Sesko, who scored the winner in a pre-season friendly against Liverpool, will now have to make a decision over his future, with Red Bull Salzburg hoping to keep him for one more year.
