Chelsea are close to completing a shock move for Aston Villa’s Carney Chukwuemeka.
Chukwuemeka has less than a year left on his current deal at Villa Park.
It is understood the 18-year-old had no intention of discussing a new contract with the Midlands club and could now be set to join the Blues.
A terse tweet on Aston Villa’s official Twitter handle confirmed the player will now travel to London to finalize the transfer.
“Aston Villa and Chelsea can confirm that the clubs have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Carney Chukwuemeka,” it read.
“The 18-year-old has been given permission to travel to London to discuss both personal terms and undergo a medical.”
Chukwuemeka made 12 Premier League appearances last season but only started two games and it is understood he is keen to get more top flight-game time.
According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Malang Sarr is very close to signing for Monaco.
Romano tweeted: “AS Monaco are in negotiations with Chelsea for Malang Sarr. Ligue1, fav destination for the player despite the proposal received from Fulham – as reported in the morning.”
