Southampton have dropped down to the Championship, and they would be looking to shed some financial weight
Turkish Super Lig. Champions-elect Galatasaray are planning to sign Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo from Southampton, Soccernet.ng reports.
Aribo joined Southampton from Rangers last summer for €7.1million. However, he failed to make an impression at the club. It was an abysmal campaign at the St. Mary’s that saw four different coaches take charge at the club.
Aribo made just 21 appearances, most of which were from the bench, and he had two goals to his name. He was even dropped to the Southampton youth team while Ruben Selles was in charge.
Following the Saints’ relegation, the club may be looking to shed off some financial weight by letting go of some players, and Aribo may be one of the players they may be willing to sell.
According to Dijital Aslanlar, Galatasaray are looking to sign Aribo when the summer transfer window opens.
They just won the Super Lig and would be looking to improve the team as they prepare to defend their title and qualify for the Champions League.
Aribo has shown his brilliance for Rangers in the past and would be looking to reignite his career next season. He could favour a move to Turkey.
