The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia crashed out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup despite a 1-0 victory against defending champions France in Group D, as Wahbi Khazri’s lone strike sealed the result at the Education City Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
France made nice changes from the team that beat Denmark with Randal Kolo Muani starting in attack, while Kingsley Coman and Matteo Guendouzi were supporting on the flanks. For Tunisia, captain Khazri led the attack with Anis Ben Slimane and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane on the flanks as the Africans looked to cause an upset.
Khazri scored the decisive goal in the 58th minute with a fantastic solo run as he beat a few defenders to give Tunisia the lead in spectacular fashion.

The goal brought France back to life as they tried to find a way back into the game. The defending champions started to put pressure on Tunisia when Kylian Mbappe was brought on from the bench.
France then thought they had equalised in stoppage time when substitute Antoine Griezmann scored, but his goal was ruled out after a VAR review for offside in the build-up.
The match finished 1-0 in favour of Tunisia, who looked dejected after the match as they found out that Australia had already defeated Denmark 1-0 to progress from the group.
