Two senators representing Taraba State on Wednesday defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the defections during plenary after reading letters submitted by the affected lawmakers.

The senators, Haruna Manu and Issa Shuaibu Lau, in separate letters read by Akpabio, said their decision followed wide consultations, deepening internal crises within the PDP and their resolve to better serve their constituents.
Akpabio formally confirmed the defections and directed the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, to receive the lawmakers into the APC, further altering the political configuration of the 10th Senate.
The development comes days after Taraba State Governor, Kefas Agbu, also defected from the PDP to the APC last Saturday.
