The Flying Eagles will have an extended training camp in Egypt ahead of the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Ladan Bosso’s side started preparations for the biennial competition at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja last week Monday.
The team engaged in three friendlies against local sides, winning all without conceding a goal.
“The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) with the push from the Task Force plan to get the Flying Eagles to set up an extended training camp in Egypt before the AFCON,” a top official of the soccer house told SCORENigeria.
“The team enjoyed a good advantage at the WAFU qualifiers when they arrived ahead of time in Niger and played two warm-up games against the host country.”
The Flying Eagles secured their place in the competition after winning the WAFU B Championship in May.
They defeated neighbours Benin Republic 3-1 in the final of the competition.
Bosso decamped 15 out of the 40 invited players on Monday due to irregularities in their international passports, poor performance and injuries.
Egypt will host the U-20 AFCON from February 18 to March 12, 2023.
The top four teams will join 24 other countries at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia.
