U-20 AFCON: Senegal zoom into final after Tunisia thrashing

The Teranga Cubs of Senegal trounced Tunisia 3-0 to reach the final of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in style. The West African nation have won all five of their matches in the tournament without conceding a single goal.

After strolling through the previous rounds, Senegal were faced by Tunisia in their semifinal clash and the Teranga Cubs did not disappoint.

It took only seven minutes for them to take the lead, and they did it in some style. Young forward Pape Demba received the ball some 30 yards from goal before shifting it onto his right foot and curling a beauty into the top corner. The youngster has now scored five goals in five games in the tournament.

The Tunisians played themselves into trouble for the second goal as a short backpass intended for the goalkeeper was seized by Lamine Camara, who slid just before the keeper could clear the ball, sending it into the back of the net in the 17th minute.

Tunisia had no answer to the questions posed by the Teranga Cubs as they found a third after 52 minutes. Camara was on hand to complete his brace after some impressive goalkeeping from the Tunisian goalkeeper saw him parry an effort from inside the box into Camara’s path.

Senegal held on for a dominant win, their fifth of the tournament as they booked their place in the final with an unblemished record. They will face one of Gambia or Nigeria in the final on Saturday.
