UCL: He’s not athletic – Cole criticizes Chelsea star after 3-1 loss to Real Madrid

Former Chelsea midfielder, Joe Cole, has criticized Jorginho following the Blues’ Champions League quarter-final first-leg 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Cole said Jorginho was not athletic during the encounter to close spaces in the midfield against Real Madrid.

He also urged Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to digest the match against Real Madrid ahead of the return leg.

DAILY POST reports that Karim Benzema’s three goals gave Real Madrid a first-leg advantage ahead of the second leg tie in Spain next week.

“You have got Jorginho in there. There were spaces in midfield, so you had two players, Jorginho is not athletic. Kante who had a problem,” Cole said on BT Sport.

“In the first half, Chelsea was having such a problem getting close to them, so just as much as we can praise Real Madrid for their performance, and tactically they were good. Chelsea was off it for their reasons. They need to take the second half into the Bernabeu.”
