UCL: Liverpool manager Klopp hits back at Mane claims: ‘We can do without him’

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has refuted claims that Sadio Mane leaving is the cause of their stop-start season so far.

The Reds have struggled to find their footing in the Premier League and Champions League so far this term.

Liverpool lost away against Napoli in the group stages, but managed to defeat Ajax 2-1 at home this week.

Mane departed the club for Bayern Munich this past summer, with some suggesting Liverpool’s problems derive from his exit, however Klopp does not see it that way.

“Sadio is a world class player. It was always clear that we were going to miss him,” he told Norwegian broadcaster TV2.

“But this is not our problem now. Unfortunately, we also played bad games with Sadio. Not ‘so’ bad, but bad.

“I especially understand that the Liverpool fans want to discuss it, want solutions and things like that. But trust me, we have worked on solutions, and now we have the opportunity to show that we have understood it, and that we will react.”
