Chelsea legend, Jason Cundy, has insisted that small Spanish club Villarreal is a disgrace to UEFA Champions League.
Cundy maintained his stand on the Yellow cards after their 3-2, being 5-2 on aggregate defeat to Liverpool in the semi-final clash of the Champions League.
The Yellow Submarines, who had defeated the likes of Bayern Munich and Juventus in previous stages of the competition this season, were beaten 2-0 at Anfield and 3-2 in front of their home crowd.
Goals from Luis Diaz, Fabinho and Sadio Mane ultimately saw the Spanish side demolished.
Villarreal also saw one of their key players, Etienne Capoue sent off after receiving two yellow cards, while goalkeeper Rulli also endured a dreadful performance.
All this happened after Boulaye Dia had fired in a third-minute opener and Francis Coquelin added a second for the home side in the 41st minutes at El Madrigal.
And Chelsea legend, Cundy who had described the LaLiga said as a ‘disgrace to the Champions League after the first, could not withhold his frustration as they let Liverpool overrun them in the second leg.
Despite a brief comeback from Unai Emery’s side, Cundy suggested the second leg justified his opinion.
“They were 2-0 up at halftime! They lost 3-2 and had a man sent off?”
“They’ve somehow bumbled their way to the semi-final, to their credit.
“That second-half performance tells me what I said was 100% right…”
