Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on midfielder Rodri, who impressed once again in their Champions League semi-final second-leg thrashing of Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Guardiola said that the Cityzens could not have achieved anything this season if not for the Spain international.
The Premier League champions secured a place in the final of Europe’s elite competition where they will play Italian giants Inter on June 10.
Bernado Silva struck twice in the first-half, while Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez scored two late goals to complete the victory for Guardiola’s side.
“What a year [for Rodri] ,” Guardiola said during the post-match press briefing.
“Everyone is talking about Haaland, but without him [Rodri] this would not have been possible.
“He has become the best midfielder we have, it has been an imperial year. We are very happy, very much.”
