WAFCON qualifiers: Nigeria to face Cape Verde or Liberia after Sao Tome withdrawal

Super Falcons will now tackle either Cape Verde or Liberia for a place at next year’s WAFCON in Morocco after Sao Tome and Principe pulled out of a first round clash.

Sao Tome were due to face the nine-time African champions between October 22 and 26 before they opted out of the competition.

As a result of this withdrawal, the Super Falcons have advanced to the second round of the 2024 WAFCON qualifiers, where they will meet the overall winners of the first round tie between Cape Verde and Liberia.

The second qualifiers have been fixed for between November 27 and December 5 with the overall winners marching on to the tournament proper in Morocco.

The Super Falcons finished a disappointing fourth at last year’s WAFCON also hosted by Morocco.
