Wolves Agree €18m deal for Sasa Kalajdzic

Wolves have reached a breakthrough in their pursuit of Sasa Kalajdzic by agreeing in principle a fee for the Stuttgart striker, according to reports.

Kalajdzic has been identified as a top target at Molineux in recent days. Wolves have been trying to sign him in order to increase their attacking options. It has taken them some work to meet Stuttgart’s asking price, though.

Despite there being less than a year left on his contract with the Bundesliga club, Kalajdzic has not been allowed to leave for a particularly modest fee. Indeed, Stuttgart have been holding out for a windfall worth €25million (£21.3million).

However, further talks between the two clubs on Monday appear to have resulted in a compromise.

According to German Sky Sports there is now an agreement in principle for Wolves to sign Kalajdzic.

The transfer will be costing them an initial fee in the region of €18million (around £15.4million). There will be some bonuses on top of that sum.

Once the final details are organised, Kalajdzic will be able to undergo a medical. It could take place as soon as Tuesday.

An agreement over personal terms is believed to already be in place. As a result, the Austrian international is closing in on a Premier League transfer.

It will give him his first taste of English football. For Wolves, he will likely have a lot of responsibility, given how the side struggled for goals in general last season.

Kalajdzic would be bringing with him a record of 24 goals from 60 appearances for Stuttgart, and 12 from 35 for Admira Wacker before that. At the age of 25, he could have many to add for Wolves.

Their next fixture will be against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League on Wednesday. It remains to be seen if they can get Kalajdzic’s transfer through in time for him to be eligible for that game, or if they will have to wait a while longer to see their prospective new arrival in action.

Fortunately for their sake, though, it now seems a matter of when, not if.
