World Cup: Ghana Secures 3-2 Victory Against South Korea

Date:

The Black Stars of Ghana secured a 3-2 victory against South Korea in Group H of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, courtesy of a double from attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus and one from defender Mohammed Salisu, at the Education City Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

Ghana started with Inaki Williams up-front, with brothers Jordan Ayew and Andre Ayew supporting on the flanks. For South Korea, Gue-sung Cho was leading the frontline, with star player Heung-min Son and Chang-Hoon Kwon in support.

In the 24th minute, Ghana took the lead when Salisu struck from close range when the Asians failed to properly clear a free-kick. 10 minutes later, Kudus scored Ghana’s second of the night with a lovely header to give the Africans a 2-0 lead going into the break.

In the second half, South Korea came fighting back in a turn of events at the Education City Stadium, scoring two quick goals to give his side a glimmer of hope.

Striker Gue-sung Cho scored his first of the night with a header to make it 2-1, before tucking another header into the net three minutes later to equalise for South Korea.

What a comeback for the Asians. The Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup continues to deliver so much drama and unlikely events.

However, Kudus got the winner in the 68th minute when he was left unmarked in the penalty area as he calmly placed the ball past South Korea goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu.

After a few chances from both sides, the referee blew the final whistle as the match finished 3-2 in favour of the Black Stars of Ghana.

Ghana are now level on points (3) in Group H with Portugal, who play Uruguay later in the day. Both South Korea and Uruguay are on one (1) point after two games.
