World Cup Qualifier: Again, FIFA rejects Ghana home ground for Super Eagles showdown

Ghana have suffered a major setback in their quest to qualify for this year’s World Cup after FIFA rejected the Cape Coast Stadium to stage a playoff game against the Super Eagles.

Nigeria will now have to give Ghana express permission to use the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi or the World Cup playoffs first leg will be played at a neutral ground, most likely Benin Republic.

The first leg qualifier is fixed for March 25.

The pitch of the Cape Coast Stadium is in deplorable state after Ghana used it to stage its 65th independence anniversary celebrations on March 6.

Nigeria petitioned against the use of that stadium as a result.

FIFA/CAF delegation subsequently inspected the arena as well as the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
