The Yucateco Boxing Promotions has condemned the abuse and victimization of its boxers, officials and affiliates representing their respective states at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
In an official statement released by the boxing outfit on Tuesday the promotion decries the victimization of its members by some executives of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) .
According to the statement the interim Secretary General of the NBF Olalekan Fasesin, and a board member Adura Olaleyin used the Army and the Police to intimidate and remove boxers and officials with Yucateco logo on their kits from the venue of the Boxing event at Baptist High School, Saje, Abeokuta, Ogun State during the opening day event on Tuesday.
The statement further disclosed that the aforementioned members of the Nigeria Boxing Federation had been in the Vanguard of maliciously frustrating the very impactful contributions of Yucateco in Nigerian boxing in recent months.
The outfit who initiated the first ever boxing league in Africa has called on the Maine Organizing Committee (MOC) of the National Sports Festival as well as the National Sports Commission (NSC) under the leadership of Mallam Shehu Dikko as Chairman, and Hon. Bukola Olopade as the Director General to look into the issue for the sake of the athletes and officials who are being victimized for no just cause.
As part of its effort to support athletes, coaches, and officials at the 22nd National Sports Festival. The Yucateco Boxing Promotions provided kits and other items for the participating teams across several sports in various states.
