Business mogul and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ondo South Senatorial District in the 2023 General Elections, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, has inaugurated a football tournament for youths in the district.
The inauguration was disclosed in a statement signed by Dr. Ibrahim on Thursday, January 12, 2023, in Okitipupa, Ondo State.
The billionaire businessman said that the inauguration of the Jimoh Ibrahim Football Tournament is part of his efforts to stimulate youth interest in sports and deepen unity among them.
The tournament is scheduled to hold from January 20 to February 20, 2023, across Okitipupa, Irele, Odigbo, Ilaje, Ese-Odo, and Ile-Oluji-Oke-Igbo Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
Ibrahim, also the Founder of the University of Fortune, Igbotako, gave the fixtures as Ese-Odo versus Odigbo on January 20, Ile-Oluji against Ilaje, on January 25; and Okitipupa versus Irele on January 30.
“The tournament is an effort to stimulate interest in sports among the youth as well as cement unity among youths, especially in Ondo South,” Ibrahim said.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim has appointed the Ese-Odo Local Government boss, Mrs. Folawe Aluko, as Chairperson of the tournament.
He disclosed that Dr. Sunday Akinbiola, Publisher of Hero Magazine, would be the Secretary, while the other five council chairmen in the district would be co-directors.
