Champions League Draw: Osimhen, Onyedika learn opponents as Liverpool draw Real Madrid

Following the conclusion of the group stage of the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League, the draw for the Round of 16 of the competition has been concluded. Super Eagles trio of Victor Osimhen, Zaidu Sanusi and Raphael Onyedika learned their opponents in the knockout rounds.

Osimhen’s Napoli won their Champions League group which contained Liverpool, Ajax and Rangers, and were drawn against reigning Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt. The German side finished second behind Tottenham Hotspur in a dramatic Group D.

Sanusi and his FC Porto side will test their might against Italian giants Inter Milan. The Portuguese champions topped their group ahead of Club Brugge, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. Inter finished in second place in their group behind Bayern Munich.

Onyedika will take his talents to Portugal when Club Brugge face Benfica in the Champions League Round of 16. The Belgian side finished in second place in their group while Benfica topped star-studded PSG in their own group.

Elsewhere, it will be a repeat of the 2022 final when Liverpool take on champions Real Madrid. The Reds finished second in their group while Real Madrid topped theirs.

Also, French giants, Paris Saint-Germain will face a stern test against German champions Bayern Munich in the Round of 16. PSG finished in second place in their group as Bayern won their group with a 100% record for a third successive season.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte will renew his rivalry with Italian side AC Milan when he leads his side out against them in the Champions League Round of 16. Spurs won their group after some final-day drama and AC Milan finished in second place in theirs.

2021 champions Chelsea will face German outfit Borussia Dortmund for the first time in their history in the Round of 16. While the English side topped their group, the German outfit finished second in theirs.

Manchester City will continue with their search for a maiden Champions League title when they face German outfit, RB Leipzig, in the Round of 16. Both sides impressed in the group stages of the competition.
