Coach Eric Sekou Chelle led the first group of the Super Eagles squad to Kigali yesterday in preparation for Friday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Group C leaders, Rwanda.
Joining Chelle on the trip were two Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) players—goalkeeper Kayode Bankole from Remo Stars and Niger Tornadoes midfielder Papa Daniel—along with the team’s backroom staff and his Nigerian coaching assistants.
“ The two-home based players, Nigerian assistant coaches and backroom staff will arrive Kigali today,” an official told NationSports. “ But most of the players would troop in by Monday.”
Meanwhile, SCORENigeria reports that the Radisson Blu Hotel in Kigali, booked by the NFF advance party for the Super Eagles, is set to be bustling with a full squad by tonight.
Officials revealed that Moses Simon, who played for FC Nantes on Saturday, dispelling any injury concerns, is among the players expected to arrive in Rwanda today. Others set to join the camp include Igho Ogbu, Stanley Nwabali, Joe Aribo, Raphael Onyedika, Victor Osimhen, and William Ekong.
“The last player will come in Tuesday so that we could have at least three full training sessions,” a team official was quoted as saying.
The Super Eagles are up against hosts Rwanda Friday evening, before they take on Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday, March 25, as the 2026 World Cup qualifiers resume.
