Coppa Italia: Nigerian youngster Akinsanmiro makes history with Inter Milan

Youngster Ebenezer Akinsanmiro made his history as the third Nigerian to win the Coppa Italia with Inter Milan following the club’s victory against Fiorentina on Wednesday night.

The Nerazzurri defeated Fiorentina 2-1 in a thrilling final contest to retain the trophy.

Lautaro Martinez scored twice to overturn Nico Gonzalez’s opener for Fiorentina.

Akinsanmiro was named on the bench for the second successive game this season.

The 18-year-old only linked up with Inter Milan from Nigeria Premier Football League outfit, Remo Stars this year.

Former Super Eagles forward, Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins was the first Nigerian to win the Coppa Italia with Inter Milan.

Martins was part of the Inter squad that won the Coppa Italia twice in the 2004/05 and 2005/05 seasons.

Midfielder Joel Obi won the competition with the club in the 2010/11 season.
