D’Tigers fell to their second straight defeat in the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers yesterday, losing 68–55 to Guinea in their Group B clash at the Salle Multidisciplinaire de Radès in Tunisia.
Guinea controlled the game throughout, outmuscling and outscoring Nigeria in a largely one-sided contest. The loss follows D’Tigers’ opening-day defeat to hosts Tunisia on Thursday.
Nigeria trailed 22–16 at the end of the first quarter and slipped further behind before halftime, going into the break 35–26 down.

Despite a brief push in the third quarter, D’Tigers could not close the gap as Guinea held firm and widened their lead in the final period to seal a comfortable victory.
Nigeria will face Rwanda today in their last game of the opening phase of the first-round qualifiers.
All teams will regroup for the second phase of the round, after which the top three sides will progress to the final qualification stage.
Only five African teams will eventually qualify for the 2027 FIBA World Cup in Qatar, scheduled for August 27 to September 12.
