The city of Lagos has become the heartbeat of African football this week as the Lagos Masters Scouting Tournament officially kicks off, drawing top scouts and sports directors from eight European clubs in search of Nigeria’s brightest young talents.
Organized by BGSports Management in collaboration with Prostar Football Agency, the Lagos Masters stands as one of the biggest grassroots scouting events ever held in Nigeria, offering a rare opportunity for young players to showcase their potential directly before international decision-makers.
The host team, BGSPORTS Football Club, leads a star-studded lineup of participating sides which includes Vido 99, Inspire Sports Academy, Collins Edwin, Box2Box, Boluspor Sporting (Ilorin), Ikorodu City, G12, Seamoriow, Ojodu City, Superstar United (Ogun State), Athletic SC, Glorious Day, Igoh FC (Warri, Delta State), Akemania FA (Ibadan), La Planet (Osun State), Toe FA (Ogbomosho), Team 360, D Shack FA (Ogun State), and Chekas United.

The tournament, scheduled to run from October 22 to 25, promises thrilling fixtures and top-quality football as teams battle for supremacy and players strive to impress the watching scouts.
Speaking ahead of the opening match, Mr. Chimaobi Peter, Director of BGSports Management, expressed optimism about the tournament’s impact on Nigerian grassroots football.
“Our goal has always been to provide a direct platform for young Nigerian players to be seen and appreciated by international clubs,” he said. “The Lagos Masters represents an opportunity for these players to turn their dreams into reality.”
The tournament is being hosted at the Inspire Sports Arena, Lagos, a facility renowned for its world-class pitches and conducive environment for talent discovery. Representatives from clubs in Turkey, Belgium, and Ukraine are among those in attendance, further underscoring the growing global interest in Nigerian football talent.
As the competition gets underway, Lagos is set to witness four days of pure football excitement, with scouts, agents, and fans eagerly watching for the next breakout stars to emerge from the country’s vibrant football scene.
