Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, has asked Harry Maguire to reproduce his England form for the club.
Maguire’s place in the 2022 World Cup squad was in doubt, as he had made only one Premier League start since August.
But Gareth Southgate selected the 29-year-old as his first choice and was rewarded with a string of assured performances.
Maguire started all five of England’s matches in Qatar before their quarter-final exit at the hands of France.
“I’ve been asked many times. It’s clear he is good enough to play at the highest level.
“He has, for England, good games almost all the time. He had a period in Manchester where he performed badly.
“We want him to bring it on the pitch for Manchester United. I expect from him, the team knows what they expect from him. If he does that, he will be a great player for us,” Ten Hag said.
Maguire will go on a short break before joining the United squad for the second part of the season.
