FA Cup: Man Utd reveal why Rashford has been dropped for Newport clash

Manchester United have said Marcus Rashford will miss their FA Cup clash against Newport on Sunday due to illness.

Rashford missed training on Friday as a result of the sickness.

United initially defended video clips of the England forward entering a nightclub in Belfast, Northern Ireland, when they went viral on Friday.

The club claimed it was on Wednesday night, before a scheduled day off on Thursday.

However, the reports insist Rashford was also at a nightclub in the Northern Ireland capital on Thursday night.

A United statement has now said: “Marcus Rashford is not well enough to be in the squad for Newport following illness; he has stayed at Carrington to train as he recovers.”

Rashford has scored just four times in all competitions as he struggles for form.
