The Federal Government has announced that all group-stage bonuses owed to Super Eagles players at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations have been released and are expected to hit their domiciliary accounts within hours.
The clarification came from the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, following reports that the national team was considering a training boycott and might decline to travel to Marrakech for their quarter-final clash against Algeria.
In a post on her official X handle, Uzoka-Anite said the concerns over unpaid bonuses had been resolved through coordinated efforts by the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
She said the government and the apex bank had streamlined processes to ensure timely and predictable disbursements in line with international best practice.

Uzoka-Anite explained that all bonuses earned during the group stage had been fully processed and cleared through the necessary regulatory channels.
She added that a fast-track conversion mechanism had been activated to meet the players’ preference for foreign currency payments.
According to her, the final stage of the payment process is already underway, with transfers to players’ domiciliary accounts currently in progress.
She said the funds are expected to reflect from Thursday or, at the latest, Friday.
The minister stressed that the welfare and morale of the Super Eagles remain a top priority for the government as the team advances into the knockout phase.
Uzoka-Anite assured that all efforts are being made to prevent off-field issues from distracting the players from their on-pitch objectives.
She reaffirmed the administration’s support for the team, expressing confidence in their quest to bring the AFCON trophy home.
