A short drama played out after Nigeria’s humiliating 4-0 loss to Portugal on Thursday in an international friendly.

Assistant Super Eagles coach and 1994 FIFA World Cup star for Nigeria, Finidi George, was pictured requesting the jersey of veteran Portugal defender Pepe.

As a post-game ritual, players exchange jerseys – which was what Simon and Portuguese defender, Pepe was about to do when George was seen asking to get the jersey instead.

George looked visibly disappointed as Pepe explained to the Nigerian legend that the pledge had been made to his player, Simon.

The ex-international, Finidi George has now come out to clear the air on the incident saying that he did not beg Pepe for his jersey, but only reminded him he had earlier promised to give it to his son.

The Super Eagles assistant coach Pepe later apologised and promised to give his son another jersey.
