President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday departed Lagos for Abuja, concluding his Eid-el-Fitr engagements and post–state visit activities following his historic trip to the United Kingdom.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s aircraft took off from the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport at about 6:44 pm.
Tinubu had returned to Nigeria in the early hours of Friday after the high-profile UK visit, where he conducted a series of diplomatic engagements.
On arrival, he proceeded to Lagos to participate in Eid-el-Fitr prayers at Dodan Barracks.
During his stay in Lagos, the President held several political and official meetings, receiving 23 state governors, including Biodun Oyebanji, in what was widely described as a significant demonstration of political solidarity.

He also met with a delegation from the European Union, reinforcing ongoing diplomatic and economic engagements between Nigeria and the bloc, as well as members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC).
In further engagements, Vice President Kashim Shettima travelled to Lagos to brief the President on his recent visit to Borno State following a suicide bombing incident, as part of ongoing efforts to address the country’s security challenges.
At the President’s Lagos residence, dignitaries including Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba, were present to bid him farewell ahead of his return to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Also at the airport to see him off were Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, alongside senior government officials and party stalwarts.
The President is expected to resume official duties in Abuja following the holiday and his recent international and domestic engagements.
