The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug trafficker and recovered five bags and 297 parcels of cannabis sativa during an operation in the state.
Police spokesman, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said on Tuesday that operatives of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) apprehended the suspect, Ibrahim Mohammed, at Rijiyar Zaki Quarters in Kano.
Kiyawa said the suspect was found in possession of five bags and 297 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, adding that investigations were ongoing to track down accomplices and recover additional exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, said investigations would be concluded promptly and assured that the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law if found culpable.
Bakori commended the operatives for their dedication and professionalism, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining peace, law and order, and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
