Two time World and Olympic champion, Faith Kipyegon made the perfect start to her Diamond League title defence at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, running 3:58.57 to win the women’s 1500m.

It was the Kenyan’s first race on the track in 2023 after winning the Sirikwa Cross Country Classic in Eldoret, Kenya in February.

It was one of her slowest times since she ran 3:58.01 in 2014 but the 29 year old is not worried about the time.

‘I am very pleased with my start of the season, it was an exciting race, but a little bit windy, so I decided to not push too much and just focus on winning the race.
