Real Madrid have confirmed that Kylian Mbappe will be included in their squad for Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Manchester City, despite doubts over his fitness.
The French forward missed the club’s open training session on Tuesday amid reports in Spain suggesting he is nursing a fractured finger.
He is also managing a knee issue, but his presence is expected to strengthen head coach Xabi Alonso’s lineup.
Alonso’s position at Real Madrid has come under scrutiny following a dismal run of one win in the last five La Liga matches, including a 2-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo.

Observers have described the coach’s chances of survival as “slim,” warning that a loss to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Bernabeu could signal the end of his tenure, which began this summer.
Mbappe has netted 25 goals across La Liga and the Champions League this season, but he was unable to find the net in Sunday’s defeat.
Should he fail to start or deliver his usual performance, Alonso will rely on the attacking talents of Vinicius Junior, Arda Guler, Jude Bellingham, and other key players to secure a crucial result.
