Newly elected board member into Volleyball board, Mrs Chinedu Odozor Onikeku has given a pass mark to the just concluded first phase of Nigerian Customs Volleyball League. She rated the league high while equally believing that there are room for improvement as well as agitating for players who had gone pro to be given the Chance to be incorporated into the league to boost more technicality and flair game.

AFFAN elected member, equally advised players to plan and save for raining days. Incase of any eventualities of either life threatening injury or retirement.

“So far so good. I believe we are gradually getting there. We are not there yet. But this first phase has shown what the second phase will be. And I believe by second phase, things will get better. In this first phase, there are some losses, but we believe by the second phase, we will be able to fix everything.

Yes, it has really improved. All the teams have improved. And I believe if they can allow those ones outside Nigeria that went to play pro to come and join, it will help our volleyball to grow with their experience. Especially for their team members. They should allow them to play. It will help our volleyball to grow.

In terms of life after sports Mrs Onikeku advised that players should learn how to plan and safe for future.

“They say there is life after sport. And I believe when they are still competing, they know that one day one thing must happen either you retire or you get life threatening injury that could make you leave the game. One of these two things must come up. And as they are getting something out of what they are doing, you have to be saving, plan for the future with something tangible to keep for yourself to fall back on in case of anything, you could fall back to that thing. Thank you very much. She concluded”

Phase one of Nigeria Customs Volleyball League ended 2nd of October with Nigerian Custom ladies topping the women’s group, while Nigeria Navy top in the men’s group.
